On Regional Development in Small Island Economies:
Alan Dwi Wibowo (Lambung Mangkurat University) and Andante Hadi Pandyaswargo (Waseda University) for their research proposal: ”Designing an appropriate renewable energy system for small-isolated islands communities”.
IRSA Research Support on Regional Development in Aceh:
Affandi (Universitas Teuku Umar) and Lukman Hakim (Universitas Sebelas Maret) for their research proposal: “The role of human capital and social culture on poverty reduction in Aceh Province”.
Sylvia Agustina (Universitas Syiah Kuala), Irin Caisarina (Universitas Syiah Kuala), and Elysa Wulandari (Universitas Syiah Kuala) for their research proposal: “The impact of major infrastructure development on village planning: Case study of Sibanceh Toll and villages in Lembah Seulawah, Aceh Besar”.
We received a large number of proposals for each grant category and the selection processes have been highly competitive. We hence hope good quality of research outputs could come out from these research projects. It is expected that the winners will present their projects at the 17th IRSA International Conference in Lombok.

Indonesian Regional Science Association (IRSA) Secretariat
The Indonesian Regional Science Association (IRSA) in collaboration with Universitas Mataram invite scholars, practitioners, and students to submit papers to be presented in the 17th IRSA International Conference. The theme of the conference is COVID-19 Disruption and Regional Development in Small Island Economies, and it will be held in Mataram, Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara on 18-19 July 2022.
Potential topics to be discussed in the conference include, but not limited to:
Social and economic impact of COVID-19
Regional Government Policy in dealing with COVID-19
SMEs development during the pandemic
Economic disruption
Health, human resources, and small island communities
Food security and malnutrition in small island communities
Livelihood, poverty, and regional disparity in small island communities
Abstract should consist of background, data and methodology, potential contributions, and keywords. Abstracts must be submitted in English, as also the full paper.
Paper sessions are seminar-style for each paper and ample time for discussion and for participants to provide constructive feedback to authors. Paper presentations will be in English.
